Investigation concludes fatal Buffalo firefighter fire was accidental

The Erie County District Attorney's office will not file criminal charges in the fire that killed Buffalo firefighter Jason Arno. The fire, which occurred in a building owned by former Congressman Chris Jacobs, was caused by sparks from blowtorches used by masonry workers. Arno's cause of death was ruled as smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. While there may be civil liabilities, no criminal charges can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
