Fatal Fall from Grand Canyon Skywalk: What We Know and Safety Tips for Visitors

A 33-year-old man fell to his death from the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a popular tourist spot in Arizona, with a vertical drop of 500-800ft. The man was seen going over the edge before plummeting into the canyon below. The Skywalk is a glass walkway that extends 70ft over the canyon overlooking the Colorado River. While it is not immediately clear if the death was accidental, officials have added a suicide prevention lifeline number. Deaths are relatively rare at the Grand Canyon, which was visited by more than 6 million people in 2018.
