Terrifying Highway Helper Crash Caught on Video by Iowa DOT

The Iowa Department of Transportation shared a video showing a scary crash involving a Highway Helper vehicle on Interstate 380 between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. The video shows a vehicle with a trailer attempting to move over into the left lane to give space for a truck on the side of the road, but instead collides with another truck, pushing it into the stopped Highway Helper vehicle. The helper is seen running into the ditch and collapsing, but fortunately, only sustained minor injuries. The incident serves as a reminder to not only move over for emergency vehicles but to exercise caution while doing so. If unable to change lanes, state law advises lowering speed when passing any vehicle with flashing lights.
