NYC Mayor Adams to Test AI Gun Detectors in Subway System

The CEO of Evolv Technologies, the company whose weapon-detection system was showcased by NYC Mayor Adams as a potential solution to subway violence, had previously stated that subways were not a good use-case for their technology due to operational and logistical challenges. Despite this, Mayor Adams announced plans to bring weapon detection technology to the transit system, with a trial run potentially starting in July. Evolv Technologies is working with the NYPD to understand how their technology can align with security and operational objectives, while also being the subject of inquiries by the Federal Trade Commission regarding the effectiveness of their technology.
