Boston Marathon icon Rick Hoyt passes away at 61.

Rick Hoyt, a beloved athlete who participated in the Boston Marathon for over four decades, has passed away at the age of 61 due to complications with his respiratory system. Hoyt, who had cerebral palsy and was a quadriplegic, was pushed in his wheelchair by his father, Dick, and together they competed in over 1,100 marathons and triathlons. The Hoyt family announced his passing and expressed their gratitude for the inspiration he and his father provided to millions of people with disabilities. A decision will be made about whether the previously planned Dick Hoyt Memorial “Yes You Can” Road Race set for Saturday will continue as planned or be postponed.
