Banko Brown, a Black trans community organizer, was fatally shot by a security guard at a Walgreens in San Francisco on April 27. Brown, who was unarmed, had reportedly tried to take snacks from the store. The killing has sparked protests and demands for justice, as well as highlighting the failures of the city to provide housing and basic safety for Black trans youth. Brown's loved ones remember him for his resilience and selflessness, and are calling for the release of video footage of the incident and for charges to be brought against the security guard.
