A 1,000-pound World War II-era bomb was discovered at a Florida regional airport, leading to a half-mile evacuation. The bomb, found by a construction crew, was declared inert after experts from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office bomb team examined it. The bomb, identified as an AN-M65 GP bomb, was used against reinforced targets during the war. The area where it was found was once used as a bombing range, and a team from MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa is set to dispose of the ordnance.
