JSU Campus on High Alert: Trespasser and Gunman Incidents Prompt Shelter-in-Place Orders

Jackson State University issued a shelter-in-place order after a man with an assault rifle was reportedly spotted near the campus. The police responded to the report and are conducting a sweep to locate the individual. Students, faculty, and staff were asked to shelter in place, and a second order was issued in response to additional reports of a trespassing individual. The campus police issued an all-clear after the man was spotted leaving the JSU property, and the Jackson Police Department is working with JSU DPS to identify the individual.
