Former San Fernando Councilwoman and CA Assemblymember, Cindy Montañez, Passes Away at 50

Cindy Montanez, a former San Fernando councilwoman and California State Assembly member, has passed away. Known for her advocacy for environmental justice, Montanez was recently diagnosed with aggressive terminal cancer. She was the youngest person ever elected to the San Fernando City Council and the youngest woman elected to the California state Legislature. Montanez chaired the powerful Assembly Rules Committee and served as the CEO of TreePeople. Her contributions to the community and her trailblazing achievements have left a lasting impact.
