Former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan Passes Away at 92

Richard J. Riordan, a businessman turned politician who served as the mayor of Los Angeles from 1993 to 2001, has died at the age of 92. He led the city during a time of civil unrest after the Rodney King beating and oversaw the rebuilding of the city's infrastructure after the 1994 Northridge earthquake. Riordan was known for his unfiltered speech and impolitic wisecracking, as well as his interest in education and support for charter schools.
