Tornadoes wreak havoc in Virginia and Florida.

A tornado hit Virginia Beach, damaging between 50 and 100 homes, but no injuries were reported. Three schools were closed due to road closures and damage from the storm. A state of emergency was declared, and the Great Neck Recreation Center was opened to affected residents and their pets. The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado and will conduct a survey to determine its rating. The Something in the Water music festival was canceled due to severe weather. A South Florida community is also recovering from a weekend tornado.
