South Fire Forces Evacuations in Ventura County

A brush fire broke out near the community of Somis in northern Ventura County, leading to an evacuation order for certain areas. The fire, fueled by strong winds, has spread to about 311 acres. Up to 45,000 people could be affected by power shutoffs due to the wind event. A temporary evacuation point has been set up at Ventura Community College. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for much of Southern California until Sunday.
