Severe Weather Strikes Florida and Texas Panhandle

Deadly severe thunderstorms and a possible tornado hit Pensacola, Florida, dumping 8-15 inches of rain in just a few hours, causing flash flooding and prompting water rescues. The National Weather Service issued Flash Flood Emergency alerts for over 100,000 people in the area. One person died when a tree fell into a home, and multiple water rescues were reported. The storms also brought ferocious winds, downing trees and power lines, and leaving 8,000 people without power. The Flash Flood Emergency expired, but more rain was expected later in the day.
