"Series of Earthquakes Continue to Shake Western North Carolina"

A 2.5 magnitude earthquake hit western North Carolina on Tuesday morning, marking the seventh earthquake to hit the same area within the past two weeks. Although earthquakes are not uncommon in the western part of the state, they tend to be minor and do little to no damage. The recent cluster of earthquakes near Canton has been compared to "little tremors" and "summer rain" by experts. The USGS reported that only one of the seven earthquakes was strong enough for residents to feel anything.
