Michigan Ravaged by 7 Tornadoes in Record Time

Seven tornadoes struck Michigan in less than three hours during a severe storm, causing widespread damage including downed trees, damaged homes, and flipped semis. The tornadoes ranged in strength from EF-0 to EF-2 and affected several counties. While not a historic tornado outbreak, the storm resulted in a significant number of power outages, with nearly 230,000 people still without power. The National Weather Service attributed the tornadoes to a combination of a cold front moving into a moist and unstable airmass, creating a "derecho-type event" with strong winds.
