Fatal Tree Collapses and Power Outages Plague South Shore Region

A Level 3 storm wreaked havoc on the South Shore, causing at least one fatality and widespread damage. A Hingham man was killed when a tree fell on a trailer in Hanover. An elementary school in Hingham was evacuated after a tree fell on it, but no injuries were reported. Tens of thousands of customers were left without power, and full restoration could take up to 72 hours. The storm also caused trees to fall on homes and a fire truck in Marshfield. The storm brought heavy rain, high winds, and coastal flooding to the area. Flights at Logan Airport were grounded, and ferry service to Hull was canceled.
