Legal Battle Ensues Over Tennessee's Unconstitutional Anti-Drag Show Law

The Blount County District Attorney has warned Blount Pride of potential prosecution if they violate Tennessee's "anti-drag law" at their event, despite a federal judge ruling the law unconstitutional. The law criminalizes drag shows in public or where they could be seen by children. The judge blocked the law, stating it violates the First Amendment. The Tennessee Attorney General plans to appeal the ruling. Knox Pride is supporting Blount Pride and encouraging the community to join them. Blount Pride is not changing their plans for the event and will have a booth there. The District Attorney stated that violations of the law can and will be prosecuted, but emphasized the importance of peaceful assembly. The Blount Pride event is scheduled for September 2nd.
