Convicted Anti-Abortion Activists Found Guilty of Blockading DC Clinic

Anti-abortion activist Lauren Handy has been found guilty of breaking federal law by blockading an abortion clinic in Washington DC. Handy and nine other protesters invaded the clinic, with Handy using a fake name to book an appointment and then blocking people from entering the waiting room. The charges against Handy and four co-defendants stem from violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (Face), a federal law that criminalizes threats or blockades at abortion clinics. Abortion providers have called for more prosecutions under the Face Act as incidents of violence and harassment against clinics have increased.
