Alec Baldwin's Involvement in Fatal 'Rust' Shooting: New Testimonies and Set Footage Emerges

Outtakes shown to jurors in the trial of armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed revealed Alec Baldwin rushing reloads with the film’s armorer for a different scene before the accidental discharge of a prop weapon that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of Rust. The video depicted Baldwin pushing for faster loading of blank ammunition and was shown as part of Gutierrez-Reed’s involuntary manslaughter trial. Expert witness Bryan Carpenter criticized the safety lapses on the set and faulted both Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed for rushing with firearms, emphasizing the need for a slower and safer approach. Additionally, Rust’s Assistant Director Dave Halls, who was also charged in the tragedy, entered a no-contest plea to a misdemeanor charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon.
