Uvalde Families Reach Settlement with City Over School Shooting

Nineteen families affected by the Uvalde, Texas mass shooting have reached a settlement with the city and county ahead of the two-year anniversary of the tragedy, aiming to "begin rebuilding trust" in the systems that failed to protect them. The $2 million settlement includes efforts to improve the Uvalde Police Department, support the community, and establish an annual Day of Remembrance. The families also announced lawsuits against 92 Texas Department of Public Safety officers and plan to sue the federal government, seeking accountability for the law enforcement response during the massacre.
