Tragic On-Duty Car Crash Claims Richland County Deputy's Life

Deputy Jacob Eric Salrin, a 23-year-old deputy with the Richland County Sheriff's Department, died in an on-duty car crash on Avalon Drive and Bluff Road. Salrin's vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer while he was driving west on Bluff Road. The driver of the tractor-trailer was injured and taken to the hospital. Salrin had recently graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and was assigned to southeast Richland County. Funeral details will be released later, and condolences can be sent to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
