Sheriff fires deputies accused of abusing Black men during raid.

Six Rankin County deputies accused of racially motivated attack against two African American men have been fired. The matter is being investigated by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and is now the subject of a federal civil rights lawsuit. The department has “cooperated with all investigation efforts related to this incident and have provided all information and data requested in a timely manner.” The deputies allegedly conducted the operation without presenting a warrant and the two men were allegedly punched and tased for 90 minutes.
