Officer Involved in Shooting of Wanted Man at Lincoln Hotel Identified

The Lincoln Police Department has identified Officer Nicholas Vest as the officer who shot and injured wanted man Garrett Hanika during an incident at a hotel parking lot. Hanika, who had a federal warrant for a probation violation and was a suspect in a theft of firearms and ammunition, attempted to hit Officer Vest with his vehicle before being shot twice. During the incident, Hanika's female passenger was run over and sustained serious injuries. Officer Vest was placed on administrative leave, and Hanika is facing multiple charges.
