"FBI Launches Criminal Probes into Violent LA County Deputy Incidents"

The FBI has opened criminal investigations into two violent encounters involving Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies, one in which a deputy punched a woman holding her baby, and another in which a deputy threw a woman to the ground and pepper-sprayed her. The investigations come after federal authorities visited the sheriff's department headquarters to collect documents related to the probes. The California Department of Justice has also agreed to review the case of Andres Guardado, who was shot in the back by a sheriff's deputy three years ago. Sheriff Robert Luna has pledged to reform the department.
