Fatal Shooting of Motorist by Oakland County Deputy in Pontiac

An Oakland County Sheriff's Office deputy fatally shot a motorist who was awakened from sleep inside a running car and accelerated, crashing into a patrol car, after resisting arrest. The motorist, who had a stolen gun beside him, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The deputy, who was partially inside the car, suffered unspecified injuries and was treated at a hospital. The motorist had recently been paroled after convictions on weapons charges.
