The Taliban have killed the Islamic State leader responsible for the 2021 Kabul airport bombing that killed around 180 people, including 13 US service members, according to US officials. The identity of the IS leader has not been released. Families of the fallen service members have expressed frustration with the limited information provided by the US military and the Biden administration's handling of the withdrawal. The Afghanistan-based offshoot of the Islamic State, with up to 4,000 members, is the Taliban’s most bitter enemy and top threat militarily.
