American Arrested in Russia on Drug Trafficking Charges

A U.S. national, Robert Romanov Woodland, has been arrested in Russia on drugs trafficking charges and detained for two months pending trial. He holds dual Russian-American nationality and is accused of illegal drug-related activities. Another American, Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, is also detained and awaiting trial in Russia, accused of spying on Russia's military, which he and his employer deny. The U.S. has raised concerns about the wrongful detention of its citizens in Russia, including former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan and dual Russian American reporter Alsu Kurmasheva.
