Vermont State Trooper Rescues Girl from Icy Pond

A Vermont state trooper bravely rescued an 8-year-old girl who had fallen through the ice while playing with her siblings on a private property in Cambridge. The trooper, Michelle Archer, arrived at the scene within five minutes of the 911 call, swam to the girl with a rope and flotation device, and successfully brought her back to shore. The girl, initially thought to have life-threatening injuries, made a full recovery after being treated at the hospital. The trooper and another officer involved in the rescue, along with the homeowner who helped, have been recommended to receive the agency's Lifesaving Award.
