"Coast Guard Rescues Dog Trapped in Shipping Container for Over a Week"

US Coast Guard inspectors at the Port of Houston rescued a stowaway dog, later named Connie, from a shipping container where she had been trapped for at least eight days with no food or water. The inspectors heard barking coming from the container and used a crane to bring it down, finding a sweet and friendly dog inside. Connie was taken to an animal shelter and is now in the care of a rescue group, receiving treatment for being underweight and testing positive for heartworm. The Coast Guard believes she accidentally ended up in the container while in a junkyard car. Despite considering adoption, the inspectors are grateful to have saved Connie and are confident she will find a loving home.
