Controversy Surrounding Lisa Edwards' Care at Fort Sanders Hospital

A Tennessee hospital conducted an internal investigation over the treatment of a woman who died after being discharged and found that her medical treatment and hospital discharge were clinically appropriate. However, changes were being made to security procedures. The woman had pleaded for more help but was forced to leave and was accused of faking illness by police officers who were investigated but not charged. The hospital is implementing empathy training for security officers and several officers who were working at the facility when the incident occurred are no longer employed.
