The U.S. Coast Guard reported that a fire caused by lithium-ion batteries aboard the cargo ship Genius Star XI has been extinguished after burning for several days. The ship, which was en route from Vietnam to San Diego, was directed to anchor near Dutch Harbor, Alaska. All 19 crew members are safe, and technicians are on board to prevent a re-ignition of the fire. An investigation will commence after response efforts are concluded.
