Before being fired from his position as CEO of CNN, Chris Licht was the showrunner for "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on CBS. When he left the show, Colbert gave him a heartfelt and emotional send-off, praising his leadership and work ethic. The segment presented a much more sympathetic portrait of Licht than a recent Atlantic profile, which portrayed him as arrogant and aloof. Colbert has not commented publicly on Licht's firing.
