Teacher Fired for Distributing Inappropriate Material in Upstate School.

A Language Arts teacher at Dorman High School in Spartanburg County, South Carolina was fired for distributing an unapproved article titled "The International Bear Brotherhood: What it is and why it’s important" to her 10th-grade students. The article discussed the Bear Brotherhood, a sub-group within the LGBTQ community that supports homosexual and bisexual men. The teacher was put on administrative leave during an investigation and was terminated after it was completed. The school district reminded teachers of the importance of having all questionable lessons and materials approved.
