School Districts Across US Ban Backpacks and Large Bags for Safety Reasons

Southwest Independent School District in San Antonio has banned backpacks, large purses, sling bags, and messenger bags on campuses for the rest of the school year to reduce the risk of dangerous items being brought onto campus. Students can only bring smaller bags that meet specific requirements. Those who bring weapons or items that look like weapons may face disciplinary actions or criminal charges.
