"New College of Florida Students Protest Conservative Takeover with Alternative Commencement"

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has installed a group of culture-war veterans to the board of trustees at New College of Florida, a small liberal arts college known for its LGBTQ inclusivity. The board has fired the college's president, provost, and chief DEI officer, disbanded the DEI office, and reassigned remaining employees to new jobs. Students have organized rallies, teach-ins, town halls, and trips to Tallahassee to lobby legislators against the changes, but their efforts have done little to slow the takeover of their campus. Some students are considering direct actions, while others are considering transferring out of the college.
