Michigan schools ban backpacks over gun safety concerns.

A second school district in Michigan has banned students from carrying backpacks on school premises after a third-grade student was found with a loaded gun. Grand Rapids Public Schools made the decision after four incidents this year in which a student was found with a handgun, three of which were found in backpacks. Flint Community Schools also banned backpacks last month due to an increase in threatening behavior and contraband, including weapons, being brought into schools. Both districts have not yet announced how students will carry their belongings.
