Los Angeles School Workers Stage Massive 3-Day Strike for Equitable Pay and Support

A three-day strike by the majority of Los Angeles public school employees, including bus drivers, teachers, custodians, and others, has shut down the Los Angeles Unified School District, affecting around 420,000 children and their families. The union leading the strike, Local 99 of Service Employees International Union, is demanding a 30% salary increase and $2 more per hour for the lowest-paid workers. The district's offer of a cumulative 23% raise was rejected. United Teachers Los Angeles has urged its members to support Local 99 by going on strike.
