Jill Biden's Visit to Boost Skilled Labor Force and Rebuild the Middle Class

The First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, launched the White House's Workforce Hub in Columbus, Ohio, to boost career technical education and close gaps in the region's in-demand industries, including construction. Over the next five years, partnerships with Columbus State Community College and local trade unions aim to prepare 10,000 people for construction trades. Columbus State will also launch a certification program for semiconductor technician roles and increase the number of engineering technology students. Additionally, local unions will expand their apprenticeship programs to meet workforce demand. Columbus was chosen for the initiative due to significant investments in semiconductor manufacturing, biotechnology, and electric vehicles.
