Impending 3-day strike threatens to shut down Los Angeles schools.

Thousands of Los Angeles public school employees represented by SEIU Local 99 are set to go on a three-day strike from March 21 through March 23 to protest the Los Angeles Unified School District's alleged unfair practices. United Teachers of Los Angeles has also announced it will honor the strike and not cross the picket lines. The workers have been in contract negotiations with LAUSD for nearly a year, seeking wage increases, increased staffing for student services, and more full-time work. The district has offered a 5% wage increase and 4% one-time bonus for the current school year, as well as a 5% wage increase and a 5% one-time bonus for 2023-2024, for all bargaining unit members, as well as pay increases for some workers.
