Florida's School Grades: Winners and Losers Revealed

Florida has released the grades for the 2022-23 school year in its public school system, using progress monitoring instead of traditional high-stakes testing. The new standards, called Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (BEST), were developed by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) under the direction of Governor Ron DeSantis. The grades serve as a baseline for future achievement, and there will be no negative consequences for schools or districts based on these baseline grades.
