Denver Schools Face Backlash and Calls for Action After Recent Shooting

The principal of Denver's largest middle school, McAuliffe International School, has spoken out against Denver Public Schools' (DPS) policy of placing high-risk students inside middle and high school classrooms. The principal revealed that a student charged with attempted first-degree murder and illegal discharge of a firearm is being subjected to daily pat downs at the school, despite his request to let the student perform online classes or be expelled. The district denied both requests, citing a lack of evidence that the student was in possession of a firearm on school grounds.
