Asa Ellerup, the estranged wife of suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann, stated that she doesn't believe her husband is capable of the alleged murders, despite him facing first- and second-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of four women. Ellerup has been visiting Heuermann in jail regularly and has filed for divorce from him. Prosecutors allege that Heuermann continued to patronize sex workers regularly before his arrest. Heuermann has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail, with the investigation into the remaining deaths ongoing.
