The US Justice Department has charged 28 members of Mexico's Sinaloa cartel, including three sons of notorious drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, in a fentanyl-trafficking investigation. The indictments charge cartel leaders, as well as alleged chemical suppliers, lab managers, fentanyl traffickers, security leaders, financiers, and weapons traffickers. Nearly 107,000 Americans died of drug overdoses in the US in 2021, and the DEA says most of the fentanyl trafficked in the US comes from the Sinaloa cartel.
