Ted Kaczynski, known as the "Unabomber," died by suicide in his cell at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina at the age of 81. He had been serving four life sentences plus 30 years for a bombing campaign that killed three people and injured 23 others. Kaczynski had been suffering from late-stage cancer and was found unresponsive in his cell before being transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His death comes as the federal Bureau of Prisons faces increased scrutiny following the death of Jeffrey Epstein in 2019.
