Tragic Waltham Crash Claims Lives of Police Officer and Utility Worker

A New Hampshire man, Peter Simon, has been ordered held without bail after allegedly crashing into and killing a police officer and utility worker in Waltham, Massachusetts. Simon was driving a stolen pickup truck when he attempted a U-turn, struck another vehicle, and then crashed into a police detail and National Grid crew working on a possible gas leak. The crash resulted in the death of a Waltham police officer and a National Grid worker, as well as injuries to two other workers. Simon fled the scene, stole a police cruiser, and led police on a high-speed chase before crashing and being apprehended. He is facing multiple charges and will be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
