Tragic Shooting Claims Lives of Two Officers Near Syracuse

A Syracuse police officer and an Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputy were shot and killed while investigating a suspicious vehicle in the Town of Salina. The officers responded to a home to investigate a stolen vehicle and, upon inspecting the vehicle, heard what sounded like someone manipulating a firearm from inside the residence. An exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the deaths of the officer, deputy, and the suspect. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is working to search the home for any additional individuals involved in the initial crime, while a procession was held to honor the fallen officers.
