Tragic Kidnapping and Murder of 2-Year-Old Wynter Cole-Smith Shakes Community

Rashad Maleek Trice has been charged with kidnapping resulting in death and kidnapping a minor in connection with the disappearance of 2-year-old Wynter Cole-Smith. Wynter's body was found in Detroit after a multiday search and a statewide Amber Alert. Trice, who was also charged with stabbing and assaulting Wynter's mother, allegedly killed Wynter, possibly by strangling her with a pink cellphone cable. Trice was apprehended after crashing a stolen vehicle and attempting to disarm a police officer. Authorities found blood and a pink cell phone charging cord in the vehicle. Trice admitted to arguing with Wynter's mother and stabbing each other, but denied taking Wynter.
