"Tragic Florida Shooting Sparks Debate Over 'Stand Your Ground' Law"

Newly released incident reports show that Marion County deputies were called a dozen times to an Ocala neighborhood before Ajike Owens, a mother of four, was shot and killed by her neighbor in an ongoing feud. The neighbor, who has not been named, shot Owens through her door when Owens confronted her about throwing roller skates at her children. Deputies had responded to the neighborhood over 10 times since January 2021 for the feud. Detectives are investigating possible self-defense claims before any possible criminal charges can be made due to Florida's stand-your-ground law. Owens' family and community leaders are demanding justice, and two were arrested at a protest for disorderly conduct. A GoFundMe has been set up for Owens' children and funeral expenses.
