Tragic Death of ISP Trooper in Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

Two individuals have been preliminarily charged in the death of Indiana State Police Trooper Aaron Smith, who was struck and killed during a police pursuit. The driver of the stolen vehicle, Eddie P. Jones Jr., has been charged with murder, while a passenger, DeMareon L. Curry, faces an auto theft charge. A 15-year-old female passenger, who was reported missing, will be turned over to authorities but is not being charged in connection with the incident. The pursuit ended when the suspect's vehicle crashed after hitting the trooper, who was attempting to deploy stop sticks on the highway. The Hendricks County Prosecutor will determine the final charges and review the potential for additional criminal charges.
