Jeremy's father, Arturo Diaz, announced his son's death in a GoFundMe post, stating that Jeremy's heart stopped and resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. The neighbor, Daniel Logan, broke into the Diaz family's home on September 11, hitting Jeremy and his own mother with the bat. Logan has been charged with felony aggravated assault and causing serious bodily injury to a child. He was found incompetent to stand trial, and a mental health hearing is scheduled for November 28.
